A Look Ahead: Transbay Demolition and Construction Activities




BOMA San Francisco Members:

Community Meeting Reminder: Join the Transbay Joint Powers Authority team on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 to learn more about the remaining demolition activities, utility relocation, shoring wall construction, street closures and hours of activity. The community meeting will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the TJPA’s offices located at 201 Mission Street, Suite 2100.


Weekday Work (4/4/11 – 4/8/11): Weekday work will take place between Monday, April 4 and Friday, April 8. All contractors will work between the hours of 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

East Transit Center activities, Pile removal activities will continue through April between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Center Transit Center Demolition activities, including fill and grading of the site, will continue until Friday, April 15 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

West Transit Center Demolition activities, including Crusher/Conveyors operation, fill and grading of the site, will continue until Friday, April 15 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Demolition work will continue on the old Bus Ramp from Howard Street towards Folsom Street as well as the old Bus Ramp off Clementina Street. Demolition is ongoing beside Clementina Street with debris processing on these adjacent parcels will continue through April, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Demolition work has closed Clementina Street to through traffic at First and Second Streets. Local access will be granted from both First and Second Streets. There will be SFPD 10B Officers directing access at First and Second Streets. We will notify all affected properties before this change in access is made. Work will be between the hours of 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM

Underground utilities work will continue on:

Minna Street from First to Second Streets.

Natoma Street from Fremont to Second Streets.

Howard Street from Main to First Streets.

Second, First, Fremont and Beale Streets from Mission to Howard Streets.

Detours, Street and Sidewalk Closure:

Detours: Minna Street will be closed to through traffic. Local two-way access will be granted off of First and Second Streets. During this time Shaw alley may be closed due to utility work.

Clementina Street is closed to through traffic 24-hours a day through April 9. An SFPD office will be in place in order to provide local access to residents of Clementina. Loud, noise producing demolition work will take place between the hours of 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM.

Lane restrictions will remain on Howard Street between Main and First Streets between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Lane restrictions will start on Second Street between Mission and Howard Streets between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Lane restrictions will remain on First Streets between Mission and Howard Streets between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Lane restrictions will remain on Fremont and Beale Streets between Mission and Howard Streets between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Sidewalks: The Fremont Street east sidewalk will remain closed. Pedestrians must use the west side of Fremont Street until further notice.

First Street west sidewalk - Pedestrians will continue to be redirected onto a temporary sidewalk in the west parking lane of First Street until Friday April 8, to allow for the demolition of the remaining portion of the building and construction of a new temporary sidewalk.

What to Expect Next Weekend (4/9/11 - 4/10/11): Underground utility work continues on Natoma Street between Fremont and Second Streets on Saturday, April 9 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Detours and lane restrictions in effect.

Underground utility work continues on Minna Street between First and Second Streets on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Detours and lane restrictions in effect.

Demolition of Clementina Street overpass continues between First and Second Streets Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Clementina will be closed to through traffic. Local access will be granted from both First and Second Streets. There will be SFPD 10B Officers directing access at First and Second Streets.

The Crusher/Conveyors operation will be in effect in the West Terminal lot on Saturday, April 9 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
