Media Buzz on the BOMA Standard

BOMA San Francisco Members:

The industry is talking about BOMA’s new Office Standard and the media is listening. MRSA Architects' Michael Semenzin gave Bisnow Chicago reporter Maureen Wilkey the lowdown on the new BOMA Office Standard.

"While the standards shouldn’t change the amount of square footage in your building significantly, they give owners and tenants a verifiable and defendable standard for classifying different spaces, including building service areas, mezzanines and floor amenity areas. One of the biggest changes is the addition of Method B, a standard that allows building owners to cap their load factor."

  • Regional leasing practices. Allows for enclosure requirements and limited unenclosed circulation; i.e., walkways and outdoor lobbies. Great for tropical climates.
  • Interactive and downloadable format. The new format includes hyperlinks throughout the document’s text, expanded definitions and 45 full–color illustrations.
